Laramie Main Street Membership

The Laramie Main Street Program was established in 2005 to expand efforts to preserve and revitalize Downtown Laramie. We build on Downtown Laramie’s strengths – its historic buildings, walkable scale, and concentration and variety of independently-owned businesses – while encouraging compatible new investment to make the district an ever more active and vibrant place. 

What We’ve Done

• Created loan and grant incentive programs to encourage compatible investment in Downtown
• developed design guidelines to preserve historic building character
• created the conceptual plan for a landscaped community plaza, facilitated the legal agreements, and started raising project funds
• completed a retail market study to identify retail sales gaps, clusters, and consumer needs
• created new Downtown banners and signs identifying public parking
• developed website and monthly e-newsletter
• worked with DLBA to host Downtown events
• promoted downtown properties as “not vacant, but full of opportunity”
• provided business assistance through training opportunities, seminars, and consultations
• hosted architectural seminars/tours with the State Historic Preservation Office on tax credit rehabilitation, low-interest loans, façade renovation and upper floor usage
• established strong partnerships with community entities

With Your Support --We will:

• create a landscaped public plaza in Downtown Laramie
• install lighting on the historic Garfield Street Footbridge
• advocate for a transit system linking Downtown Laramie to destinations throughout the city
• provide design and preservation consultations to business and property owners
• complete an environmental, structural, and historic assessment of the Fox Theater and pursue funding to make this property a community asset
• expand incentive and assistance programs for Downtown business and property owners
• strengthen relationships throughout the community
• continue to host Downtown events that serve the entire community; pursue public art programs
• be a clearinghouse of information about Downtown Laramie for residents, visitors, new members of the community, business and property owners, and entrepreneurs
• expand website and e-newsletter content
• promote re-use of upper floors
• identify strategies for better management of Downtown parking
