Empress Redevelopment Project Updates: March 2017

With funds in place from the Wyoming Business Council, Laramie Main Street, the City of Laramie and Big Hollow Food Coop had a kickoff meeting on March 8, 2017 with our design/build team. We’ve hired GH Phipps as our contractor and Arete Design Group as our architect team. Martin/Martin Wyoming will be our engineers.

In the coming weeks, we’ll be reviewing exterior designs for functionality and aesthetics then moving into interior design, mechanical and electrical systems at the end of April. Currently, the goal is to start construction the first week of June with completion projected for December 2017 with Big Hollow scheduled to move in January 2018.

We are exploring setting up a website for internal and external communications, placing a webcam on the roof of the opposite building so that the public can watch our progress and taking site photos with a drone each week. Our goal is to be very communicative and transparent with the public, property owners and businesses in the area so everyone is aware of the process and remains excited about the end result.
